Having your chimney swept regularly is not just a matter of keeping things neat, clean and tidy (although of course that is certainly part of our service!). It’s a matter of safety. 

Over time a build up of soot, tar and creosote can form inside the flue. Smoke will be less able to escape through the chimney, potentially causing high levels of carbon monoxide (an infamously lethal and odourless gas) to blow back into the room.

Excessive amounts of soot in a flue greatly increase the risk chimney fires and soot falls. Either of these can cause expensive damage to a building, making regular sweeping not only safe but also cost effective!

We say at least once a year, although this may differ depending on the fuel that you burn. Wood-burning stoves may need a twice-yearly clean.
